Question of the Month

Q I have several valances that are mounted on boards, and even a cornice. I can't find a cleaner that is willing to take them off the board to clean them, and I'm not ready to replace them yet. Can you help me?
A Absolutely! We come to you, and clean them right where they hang!

Questions and Answers

Q How often should I clean my window coverings?
A It depends totally on your environment and your personal cleaning preferences.
Use "Spring Cleaning" as a guideline: once a year is not too often!

Q My pets shed a lot of hair. Does the cleaning process remove it?
A We manually remove the pet hair prior to cleaning with a high quality professional lint remover. You can cut your cleaning costs by doing this yourself prior to cleaning.

Q Will cigarette smoke and discoloration be eliminated?
A It depends on the fabric and the type of cleaning. If it's a wet cleaning, the cigarette stains will be removed; a dry cleaning will lighten cigarette stains but not completely remove them.

Q Is the cleaning fluid toxic to humans or pets? Does it leave an odor?
A No, it is not harmful. You will notice a clean, fresh scent afterwards.

Q How long does it take to dry completely?
A Most fabrics are dry in two hours

Q Last time I took my draperies to the cleaners, the header came back totally limp. Will that happen again to my new draperies?
A No! We guarantee no loss of sizing, resins, or flame retardants.

Q Those awful miller moths left spots on my window coverings. What will take them out?
A We can sometimes remove them with our special spot removers. The key is to work on them right away, before they have a chance to set in place. Call us as soon as the pests are gone in late spring or early summer.

Q There is a lot of debris (lint and bugs) inside the cells of my honeycomb shades and Silhouettes. I've tried using a cool blow dryer but it just isn't strong enough. Is there a way to get that stuff out of there?
A Yes! Our equipment is very powerful. We remove all the debris before cleaning
the shades.

Q I can't imagine that this cleaning process can really get very much dirt out, since the drapes don't get tumbled in a big machine. Does it really do anything?
A Our customers are amazed when they see what the cleaning fluid removed from
their draperies. Our equipment is extremely powerful, and the dry and wet cleaning solutions are very effective. Our technician is meticulous and thorough during the entire cleaning process, including painstaking pre-spotting for those tough stains. We are confident you will be thrilled with the results.

Q Some of my draperies are really old and tired. Is it safe to clean them?
A We will do a thorough visual inspection before cleaning. If we feel sun-damaged or time-worn fabric is not strong enough to hold up to another cleaning, we'll say so. And we recommend that you contact WindowCoveringGallery.com for a free estimate on new window coverings!

Q Do you wet clean or dry clean?
A It depends on the type of fabric. Wet cleaning generally leaves colors brighter, but many fabrics can only be dry cleaned. Our equipment will use either process effectively.

Q Is it expensive?
A No! This is a very affordable convenient service. Consider this scenario: You don't have to struggle to take your window coverings down by yourself….. take them to a dry cleaner (who only charges $1.75 per pleat)….live in a "fishbowl" for a few days until time to go pick them up….. then struggle to re-install them, only to find that they didn’t' put all the hooks back in your drapes….or the hem came out….. or one of the brackets is broken, so now you have to find a replacement for a discontinued piece of hardware…..and now that the drapes are finally back in place, the lining is longer than the fabric, and they don't hang beautifully in soft folds like they used to. You don't have to deal with any of that!
And our price is only $2.50 - $3.50 per pleat! We'll be happy to give you a free estimate.Contact us at (719) 219-1010!

Q I have swags that are draped around a pole. I can't fathom having to take those down and getting them back up the way they used to be. How do you handle this?
A We never even take them down. They are cleaned right on the rod when they are hanging. We use spring clamps to hold fabric in place as needed, so as to not compromise the original installation.
